Frequently Asked Questions

How do I modify a specific interface?

Navigate to the Custom Schema pad and click on the drop-down until you find the name of the interface or XML document name. You can modify the XML schema using the BIX user interface or copy-paste the XML schema into a schema editor and make the necessary change(s). After you update or save the needed changes the new changes will be effective immediately.

How can new or existing Custom Rules be modified?

Providing you have a role for control administrator, you can select the Custom Rules page where the administrator can modify or create new rules for each of the previously defined XML schema(s).

Can Custom Rules be tested before the rule is activated?

Yes, any of the BIX users with the control administrator role may use the Custom Rules Tester to check that a new or modified custom rule is performing as expected before the rule is activated. Once a rule is activated it is immediately implemented in the given environment for the XML schema that was modified.

How do users see the data that was loaded into BIX?

After files are uploaded into BIX, they can be sent for transformation or loaded into BIX base tables and users can use the BIX Ad Hoc query tool to view and download data locally.

How does the BIX upload website transfer files?

The upload website uses secure FTP which encrypts every file while it's in transit.

Is BIX a multi-tenancy environment?

No. BIX was designed and developed with secure data transfer and data integrity as primary goals, not profitability. Multi-tenancy is implemented by installing multiple database instances or multiple schemas within a single database instance.

How many different interface messages can be created using BIX?

Each BIX interface message is defined by a row in a database table, so theoretically BIX can hold as many interface messages as maximum rows allowed in a table - although practically speaking BIX can create as many interface messages as can be managed by the BIX administrator(s).
